CHAZ ALLEN

Executive Director

Chaz Allen has led the Iowa Utility Association as executive director since 2019. He is an Iowan who has spent his career in rooms where Iowa towns make real decisions about their future.

Chaz was elected mayor of Newton and served for eight years. He was elected to the Iowa State Senate, representing a district that spans Jasper County and eastern Polk County. He ran his own welding business in Newton while holding both offices. Before joining IUA he served as executive director of the Jasper County Economic Development Corporation, working to help rebuild a community that had lost one of its largest employers.

Along the way he served on task forces for Iowa's economy and infrastructure under two Iowa governors from two different parties. His approach has always been the same: focus on what actually works for Iowa communities, not on who gets credit for it.

Iowa's utilities serve real people in real communities. Getting Iowa's energy story told accurately... in chambers, at Rotary clubs, in city council meetings... is work Chaz takes seriously.

He is available to speak to community organizations across Iowa. Contact him at 515.282.2115 or callen@iowautility.org.
